    Leading Edge is Colorado SBDC Network’s flagship strategic planning series which delivers comprehensive training to small businesses by providing entrepreneurs with a better understanding of operating a small business. The certified program has courses geared to help new and existing businesses in the areas of finance, marketing, management and more.     The Colorado SBDC Network has received funding to support economic gardening initiatives statewide through the recent passing of HB 1002. The Southern CO SBDC is one of several SBDC locations statewide that was Economic Gardening certified through the Edward Lowe Foundation in Sept. 2013.     Connect2Dot is a new program formed as a result of an innovative partnership between the Colorado SBDC Network and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). The program is designed to help small businesses in the transportation industry become more competitive and successful in bidding and contracting with CDOT and other local transportation agencies. In addition to one-on-one consulting and business training, Connect2Dot provides online resources and events.     Export & Import consulting and resources assistance is offered through the CO SBDC Network to offer guidance and readiness assessment in areas of strategic planning, market research and finance. The Southern Colorado SBDC is one of several SBDC locations statewide that received Export Certification in 2013.     The Colorado SBDC Network has partnered with Health Links to provide small business assistance in creating a work environment that promotes safety, physical activity, healthy habits and overall well-being for employees through work-site certification and seed money. The Health Links Health Business Certification is a program that recognizes small businesses for meeting or exceeding worker health and safety standards. Certified business will receive community, industry, and media recognition, a promotional package including certificate, stickers, logos and icons; recognition on the Health Links and SBDC websites; discounts from sponsors, vendors and more. Small businesses with less than 250 employees should visit the Colorado Small Business Development's Health & Wellness site for information and to apply on for the certification program. For small businesses that are just getting started, there is a Kick-Start program that awards seed funding and provides free one-on-on consulting by SBDC consultants for businesses successfully building work-site wellness and safety programs.
