Senior Mini College returns to PCC Fremont campus
After a multi-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual Senior Mini College will return to the Pueblo Community College Fremont campus in 2023.
The 37th edition of the event will be held March 20-24. Registration begins March 1 at the Fremont campus, 51320 W. Highway 50. The mini college is open to adults and retirees of all ages.
Classes are geared toward personal growth and lifelong learning. There are no grades, tests or credits. The diverse list of past topics includes computer use, art, local history, health and wellness, gardening, fossil hunting, financial planning and personal safety.
Classes are taught by volunteers that include local experts, artists, authors and other accomplished individuals. The event planning committee is accepting proposals and topic ideas from potential presenters.
In order to keep participation costs low, the planning committee is also seeking donations and sponsors.
For more information about attending, teaching or sponsoring the event, call 719-296-6116 or email trina.jiron@pueblocc.edu.
Senior Mini College Dedication

Carol McNew, long time Senior Mini College Instructor, Fremont County Historian, Senior Mini College Steering Committee Member, and supporter of Pueblo Community College, Fremont Campus, is being posthumously honored with the dedication of the 36th Senior Mini College of 2023.
Carol began her involvement with Senior Mini College in 2008 when she provided participants with a guided tour of Greenwood Cemetery. She was a vivacious presence during Mini College. In addition to providing fieldtrips and instructing classes, Carol could also be found in the hallways and hospitality room in full historical costume. It was a delight to engage with Carol as she performed living history.
In 2018 Carol became a member of the Senior Mini College Steering Committee. She was an enthusiastic member who took on several duties to ensure the success of the event. Carol was our recorder, photographer, interviewer, newsletter publisher, and the source of a good chuckle. Her positivity, commitment, and leadership will be missed.
The loss of Carol has been felt deeply. We are honored to dedicate the 2023 Senior Mini College to our friend Carol McNew.
