Carrie Clyde Holly: Her Hat was in the Ring

11 a.m.-noon Wednesday, March 12

PCC Hoag Theater, lower level of the Mike Davis Academic Building

In 1895, Carrie Clyde Holly became Pueblo County’s first female representative in the Colorado State Legislature. She was one of the first three women in the entire United States to hold a legislative office. Judy Gaughan, a history professor at CSU Pueblo, is writing a book about Holly. In this presentation, she will explore Holly’s uneasy position of being a woman in what had previously been a male-only space – in an era before women in most of the country could even vote.
