Advanced Emergency Medical Technician

What will I learn?

Our EMS program will prepare you to enter the field of emergency medicine. We offer three levels of EMS education: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) and Paramedic.

The Advanced EMT has an expanded scope of practice with additional medications, assessments and treatments beyond the EMT scope.

Classroom learning will include, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, advanced patient assessment techniques, emergency medical procedures and emergency scene management.

In the lab you will learn AEMT skills and how to incorporate them into patient scenarios. Clinical experience involves 120 hours of patient contact in the hospital ED, Labor and Delivery and OR as well as 60 hours of ride time with ambulance or fire agency.

Program requirements

To enroll in the EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic programs, you must pass a background check and drug screen, have all current required immunizations, and be able to meet the requirements of the Functional EMS job description.

The licensure requirements for the Advanced Emergency Medical Technology program may differ between all 50 states and U.S. territories.
