Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Why PCC?

PCC Emergency Medical Services faculty members are all experienced, advanced-level EMS providers who have worked in many different EMS agencies, both urban and rural. This gives our programs a great depth of knowledge and experience. Our instructors also have many years of EMS education experience and are focused on student success.

We have up-to-date equipment and facilities for practicing patient care in a safe environment. Our classes are fast paced and hands on to prepare you for a career in EMS. There is also an ambulance simulator for practice in packaging, moving and caring for patients in an ambulance environment.

What will I learn?

Our EMS program will prepare you to enter the field of emergency medicine. We offer three levels of EMS education: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) and Paramedic.

In the EMT class you will learn in three settings;  classroom, lab and clinical.

Classroom learning will include, anatomy and physiology, patient assessment techniques, emergency medical procedures and emergency scene management.

In the lab you will learn EMT skills and how to incorporate them into patient scenarios. Clinical experience includes patient assessment and care in the hospital ED as well as ride time with ambulance or fire agency.

The class provides essential foundational knowledge and skills necessary for a career in emergency medical services, with opportunities for advancement to higher levels of certification.

The online EMT class combines online learning with hands-on lab sessions.

✓ Online Component

  • Self-paced theoretical content
  • Digital assessments

✓ In-Person Labs

  • Hands-on skills practice
  • Equipment training
  • Practical assessments

This flexible format allows you to complete the class portions at your own pace while mastering essential hands-on skills during scheduled lab sessions.

If there are 4-5 students from a distant agency who take the online EMT course Pueblo Community College EMS will consider hiring a local skill instructor to hold labs in your area. Contact Dawn Mathis for more information. Dawnelle.Mathis@pueblocc.edu
