Celebrate Women’s History Month by learning about the lost memoirs of Julia Lambert. She came to Colorado in 1860 at the age of 12. In 1863, at 14, she married at Fort Lyon, where she and her husband later operated the stage company. They carried passengers to Pueblo, Denver, Fort Larned, and Santa Fe. Julia was at Fort Lyon when Chivington arrived prior to the Sand Creek Massacre.
