Student fees at Pueblo Community College support programs, services, and resources that enhance the student experience, including academic support, student health services, campus facilities, and technology.

Mandatory student fees are charged to most students and, along with tuition, help determine the overall cost of attendance.

PCC reviews student fees annually through an established process to ensure fees are approved, allocated, and used appropriately in accordance with state regulations and Colorado Community College System policies.

Student fees vary by campus and enrollment. The table below provides an overview of current fees and how they support students.

Understanding Your Student Fees

Pueblo Community College students have a voice in how student fees are reviewed and approved through the Associated Student Government (ASG).

ASG works with college leadership to:

  • Review current student fees annually
  • Provide student feedback on proposed changes
  • Participate in the fee approval process
  • Represent student interests in fee discussions and appeals

Student Consultation

PCC administration consults with ASG during the fall term to review current fees and again in the spring before proposed fees are submitted for the next fiscal year.

Student Representation

ASG appoints student representatives to participate in the college’s fee review process through the Budget Hearing Committee. Representatives may include:

  • ASG President (Chair)
  • ASG Treasurer
  • One additional ASG officer or senator
  • Two student representatives at-large

Review of Fee Proposals

ASG reviews preliminary fee proposals and provides feedback before proposals move through the college approval process.

Student Communication

When student voting is required, information provided to students includes:

  • Fee amount
  • Reason for the fee
  • Length of time the fee will apply
  • Intended use of funds
  • Whether the fee is permanent or temporary

Student Approval Required

Student approval is required for:

  • New fees exceeding inflationary increases that support administrative costs
  • New fees or increases exceeding inflation for non-permanent student purposes

Student Approval Not Required

Student approval is not required for:

  • Inflationary increases
  • Certain permanent student purpose fees
  • Certain bond-related fees

Voting Process

  • Elections are announced at least 30 days in advance.
  • A simple majority of votes cast determines the outcome.
  • Proposals defeated by student vote cannot be resubmitted until the next regularly scheduled election.

Students have a formal process to raise concerns about proposed fees.

If ASG representatives disagree with a final fee proposal:

  1. ASG and college leadership first attempt to resolve concerns informally.
  2. If unresolved, the ASG President may submit a formal written appeal to the PCC President.
  3. If needed, additional appeal steps may be available through the State Student Advisory Council process.

PCC is committed to transparency and accountability in the student fee process.

Student fees are:

  • Listed separately on student billing statements
  • Reviewed annually
  • Used only for their approved purpose
  • Publicly available for student review

PCC reviews student fee balances annually to ensure funds are managed responsibly and used to support student needs. Student Activity Fee balances are reviewed to confirm they align with planned future expenditures and responsible stewardship of student-collected funds.

PCC also reports tuition and fee information annually to the Colorado Department of Higher Education as required by state reporting guidelines.
