The Pueblo Community College Health Information Technology and Management (HITM) program provides a student-centered experience in programs designed to create workforce-ready graduates who successfully complete professional credentialing exams and meet the needs of future employers.
The HITM department mission is to prepare students for purposeful and rewarding careers in the field of health information to benefit the community. We support the regional economy by being a center of excellence for Health Information education.
With the exception of the internship class, PCC’s HITM programs are fully online so they can accommodate students who have other commitments. This feature prepares graduates for work not only in their communities, but also for the many remote positions available in today’s economy.
All program tracks include stackable certificates and degrees, from mini certificates to a Bachelor of Applied Science degree, offering students the opportunity and eligibility to sit for various professional credentialing exams. (The BAS degree is presently in Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education candidacy status.)
PCC graduates will understand the issues in contributing to quality healthcare, have a heart for the needs of the patient population, and have the technological skills to deliver excellent support to frontline providers and manage all aspects of the health record. The PCC HITM department values engagement with our professional community and has dedicated, well-educated staff with deep knowledge and experience in many areas of HITM.
Employing the latest resources, the PCC HIT program helps you develop the knowledge, skills and practical experience that employers value. When pursuing degrees and certificates in Health Information Management (HIM) and Technology (HIT), you’ll complete guided studies from the disciplines of medicine, management, finance, information technology and law, opening new opportunities to choose from a variety of jobs across many different healthcare settings.
