Applicants must complete PHY 1105 and Bio 1004 or substitute with BIO 2101 to be eligible to apply to the program. Finishing gen ed courses before starting the program is strongly recommended.

Why PCC?

Our Physical Therapist Assistant program instructors have more than 40 years of combined experience in physical therapy and more than 22 years of combined experience in teaching. They have a diversity of expertise and backgrounds in orthopedic rehab, neurological rehab, pediatric rehab, modalities, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and functional training.

Our instructors have a love for physical therapy and a passion for educating our students to be prepared for this valuable and exciting career.

What will I learn?

The Associate of Applied Science degree prepares you to serve as a PTA within five semesters. The program is offered 2-2 ½ days per week except during the clinical experiences, which occur in the third and fifth semester.

Clinical experiences are scheduled for 40 hours per week and placement is typically anywhere in southern Colorado. Learning experiences include lecture and interactive lab opportunities in a spacious lab with state-of-the-art equipment.

Marijuana Policy

THC (marijuana) is part of the required 10-panel drug screen prior to admittance into any Health Professions or Public Safety program at PCC. The passage of Amendment 64 in the State of Colorado, does not overrule Federal law, which states this is still an illegal substance. Students testing positive for THC (marijuana, including prescription marijuana) will not be allowed entrance or re-entrance into a Health or Public Safety program.

Professional Licensure Disclosure

The licensure requirements for Physical Therapist may differ between all 50 states and U.S. territories.  

Pueblo Community College (PCC) recommends each student visit Federation of State Board of Physical Therapy to identify the program requirements for each state in which you plan to live and practice.  

PCC can only guarantee that the requirements for the state of Colorado are met with our program.
