PCC students and employees recognized at statewide event

Some of Pueblo Community College’s outstanding employees and students were recognized this month by the Colorado Community College System. PCC’s 2024 employees of the year were honored April 8 at the CCCS Commitment to Excellence Awards. Susann Anger, Lisa Molina, Shanda Vidmar and Kimberly Wells were selected last November as PCC’s outstanding employees.

Anger (classified employee category) is an administrative assistant III in the medical and behavioral health division. Molina (administrative/professional/technical) is the director of student services at the PCC Southwest campus in Mancos.

Vidmar (faculty) is the assistant chair of the biological and physical sciences department and has been an instructor at PCC for 20 years. Wells (part-time instructor) started teaching history at PCC in fall 2023.

On April 9, the CCCS Student Excellence Awards recognized leaders in several areas:

The Phi Theta Kappa All-Colorado Academic Team salutes the academic accomplishments of high-achieving two-year college students. PTK is the national honor society for community colleges. PCC’s honorees this year were Aurora Aldrich, EvaMarie Maestas and Maranda Reyes.

The Rising Star Award is given to students who demonstrate outstanding leadership contributions on their campuses and in their communities. Natalia Lobato, a nursing student at PCC Southwest in Mancos, and Paul Link, a psychology major at the Fremont campus in Cañon City, were selected as PCC’s honorees.

PCC’s Inclusive Excellence Champion is Adrian Hernandez, president of Associated Student Government. The award goes to those who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion practices on their campus.

The new Rollie Heath Award goes to one CCCS student who excels academically, earned concurrent enrollment credits during high school and demonstrates leadership in their community. PCC’s Deanna Molina-Nevarez is the first recipient.
