The Nursing department offers an array of learning tools and cutting-edge technology to enhance your experiences and overall education, including learning labs with low- and high-tech manikins and a simulation center in the state-of-the-art Nursing & Allied Health Teaching and Learning Center at the St. Mary Corwin Hospital campus. These experiences make it possible for you to practice in different real-life scenarios.
Our collaborative relationships with local hospitals allow us to provide you the clinical experiences necessary to accomplish graduate competencies and acquire work-ready skills.
Also, PCC is the first and only community college in Colorado to offer Paramedic-to-Nursing (Associate Degree in Nursing) through the Advanced Placement in Nursing program.
What will I learn?
Nurses have been rated as the most trusted profession over the past 12 years. During this three-semester program, you will learn about the nursing process, nursing theories, and how to synthesize the ever-changing data of acutely and chronically ill patients. You will learn how to collaborate with healthcare team members to facilitate healing and you will become a part of a growing, expanding, multifaceted and rewarding career.
The Advanced Placement in Nursing for Practical Nurses and Paramedics program teaches you direct patient care skills that can apply in any healthcare setting. You’ll experience lectures and hands-on instruction in classrooms, skill labs, simulated laboratories and clinical settings. This program integrates education in adult, gerontologic, obstetric, pediatric, and psychiatric-mental health nursing. Your clinical learning will take place in diverse institutions and entry-level courses in leadership will teach you to direct and supervise ancillary personnel.
Our Nursing faculty members are all experienced master’s-level nurses who have worked in acute care, ambulatory care centers, medical offices, and more. They give our program a depth of knowledge and experience that will provide you with a quality education.
After completion of the nursing curriculum, you will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nursing.
