Who we are:
Made up of representatives from across the PCC community, we are the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Accessibility (I.D.E.A) Committee. Our mission is to foster and promote a sense of belonging among intersectional identities that values and respects the talents, beliefs, backgrounds, and ways of living in our world.
We wish to acknowledge the range of emotions, such as stress, fear, anxiety, isolation and trauma that members of our community are experiencing due to the national conversation and spotlight on movements related to Black Lives Matter, law enforcement reform, workplace equality, and others. We realize that for many, these feelings are not new and may be a daily burden. We join in solidarity with those who protest racist, homophobic, transphobic, and other damaging ideologies that dehumanize and oppress people. We also stand with those who are committed to systemic change.
We see the importance of our work as a higher education community, of learning from one another, fostering safe places to seek new knowledge, and doing all we can to create a better society; one that is free from violence, hate, and fear. We encourage thoughtful and courageous dialogue, and we hope you will embark on this journey with us to ensure we are standing together and working towards a healthier future.
Watch for our regular newsletters and future learning opportunities and celebrations. We are always seeking new members for our committee, including students and branch campus employees. Email idea@pueblocc.edu if you have questions or wish to join. We also invite suggestions for our newsletter content and events.
