Grants can help you achieve your education goals

Grants are free money to help you pay for college. They are often "need-based" and do not have to be repaid. There are a variety of federal and state grants available at PCC, each with different eligibility requirements.

Federal Financial Aid Grants

Federal Pell Grant

A need-based grant provided to low-income undergraduate students that does not have to be paid back*.

  • Must have demonstrated Financial Need determined by FAFSA through your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC)
  • EFC must be between 0 - 5846
  • Awards for the 2021-2022 academic year range from $945 to $6495
  • Pro-rated based on enrollment
  • Lifetime eligibility used for Pell is the equivalent of 6 years at full-time enrollment (600%)

*Total withdrawal from classes or all failing grades in a semester may result in paying back grant funds, always consult the PCC Financial Aid Office when considering a withdrawal.

Pell Grant Requirements

  • File the FAFSA every year you are enrolled for classes.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Be enrolled for at least one credit hour at PCC.
  • Declare a major or degree that is eligible for FAFSA, almost all degrees at PCC are eligible.
  • Not already have a bachelors degree.
 

Year-Round Pell

The Federal Pell Grant Program allows eligible students to receive up to 150% of the student’s scheduled Pell Grant offer, also known as “Year-Round Pell”. Year-Round Pell allows students that were enrolled full time in both the fall and spring semesters to receive an additional Pell Grant offer in the summer semester.  Please contact the financial aid office for questions regarding your eligibility.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

This grant is a first-come, first-served fund available to non-resident PCC students with exceptional financial need (as determined by the EFC from FAFSA).

  • Must be attending at least 6 credit hours
  • Students at PCC must be Pell eligible to qualify

State Financial Aid Grants

Colorado Student Grant (CSG)

This grant is a first-come, first-served fund available to Colorado residents who demonstrate financial need (determined by the EFC from FAFSA).

  • Must be attending at least 6 credit hours
  • EFC must be between 0-8769
  • Pro-rated based on enrollment

Other Grant and Aid Opportunities

Just graduated from high school? There’s a $1500 scholarship just for you! If you enroll at PCC this fall or spring, following your high school graduation date, you qualify for PCC’s Cap and Gown Award. Receive $1,500 to be used toward your tuition and fees for one semester. This credit is in addition to any other financial aid or scholarships you may receive.

Career Advance Colorado

Career Advance Colorado provides zero-cost training for in-demand jobs to. Starting in August 2023, students who enroll in one of the following training programs will have their tuition, fees, course materials, and other costs covered while funding is available:

3 on Me

New students who register for classes can receive 3 free credits with PCC’s 3 on Me offer. This offer covers up to $500 in tuition. To qualify, you must be a new student or returning to PCC after at least one semester off. You must also be eligible for the College Opportunity Fund program.

3 on Me applications will be sent to students via email or can be completed during academic advising meetings or success coaching sessions.

Early Childhood Education (ECE) Educator Financial Support

Students taking ECE 1011 and ECE 1031 may be eligible to receive funds to cover in-state tuition and course-related fees for those two classes.

Students who are enrolled in these courses will receive an application after census date.

Return to Earn

Colorado residents who are returning to school to earn their certificate or degree may be eligible for up to $2,000 in financial assistance through this program. Students must meet the following criteria:

  • Have some college credits but no degree
  • Have not previously earned a certificate or degree that required 30 or more credits 
  • Have not been enrolled for at least two consecutive semesters

Funding is limited. Students must meet program and other requirements to qualify.

Behavioral Health Micro-Credential Grants

PELL-eligible students and others demonstrating financial need may be eligible to receive funding to supplement costs associated with obtaining these credentials:

  • Patient Navigator
  • Peer Support Specialist
  • Behavioral Health Associate
  • Addiction Recovery Aide
  • Behavioral Health + (useful addition to CNAs)

These micro-pathways can be completed in 1 semester (less than 16 weeks). All courses are available online. All credits apply to the Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health degree.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Grant

Students enrolled in a CTE certificate program that is not more than 15 credit hours and can be completed in a single semester may be eligible for a grant under this program. Students must also be Colorado residents, remain in good academic standing, and demonstrate financial need. Students may not receive a PELL grant and CTE grant concurrently.

The maximum award for the CTE grant is $2,250 applied to tuition, fees, and course related materials.
